About Us

300x250 Low Res

Should we bother to say that we love chocolate? That our friends bring us wild and wacky flavors from their travels, and that when we travel, we find the chocolate makers wherever we go? We've visited gourmet chocolate bakeries, cafes, restaurants and manufacturers in places as far-flung as California, Hawaii, Montreal, Maine and New York City. We've tasted chocolates from Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany, Holland and Spain. We've toured Scharffenberger (before they sold to Hershey) and tasted fresh roasted beans. We've ordered ten pound blocks of semi-sweet chocolate and white chocolate from Guittard --a fantastic manufacturer located in San Francisco. We've made chocolate truffles in our own kitchens, perfected chocolate chip cookies, cheesecakes, mousses and pots de creme (chef Jamie Oliver calls this well-known French standard "chocolate pot".

What we know about chocolate is that most people adore it. If you want to make someone happy, bake them brownies. If you need a quick pick-me-up in the middle of the day --or night, nothing beats a big piece of chocolate cake. Suffering from a broken heart? A box of Godiva chocolate will help ease the pain.

Knowing all this, how could we go wrong talking about chocolate? We want you to know everything there is to know about this marvelous and unusual product. Chocolate is rare; it has historic significance. The chemicals in chocolate are complicated--to this day, scientists don't really know how it works. Chocolate creates feelings in people to which no other food can compare. We sniff it, taste it and rub it on our bodies. We give it to our loved ones, treat ourselves with it when we're down and celebrate with it. But most people know very little about their all time favorite flavor, and we want to change that.

Our Chocolate Listings

Chocolate buying is tricky, and fraught with danger if you're trying to send chocolates to someone who doesn't live nearby. Some chocolate companies don't ship at all during the summer months. Chocolate, being a food product, doesn't easily cross borders. And trying to find chocolate to send to someone in another state or another country can be daunting. One of our projects is to assemble a worldwide list of chocolate makers with online delivery, so wherever you are or wherever you want to send a present, you can find the best chocolates available at the nearest location.
